The Shower Shuttle was developed at the specific request and for the specific needs of the Ojai Valley Family Shelter. Five interfaith church locations had collaborated to provide 230 showers a week at different site locations for homeless through each week. An 80’s era motorhome and shower was the first unit that had been acquired to accomplish this mission. The system had become inadequate for the needs of the homeless and did not provide any ADA ability for some of the clients. It was decided that they needed a Shower Bus however the price for a new unit was cost prohibitive. The group decided to purchase a used Shuttle Bus and convert it to handle the clientele needs. We helped design the floor plan for the interfaith group pro bono. At the conclusion the group had no fabrication vendors identified. We offered to accomplish the conversion with funding.
